  • Smart actuators with high motion accuracies, fast responses and precise force/torque manipulations are the key for intelligent mechatronic systems. This book intends to introduce and illustrate modeling, sensing and control methods for designing and developing direct drive actuators which are not only limited to traditional one-DOF direct drive motors such as torque or linear motors, but also include multi-DOF actuators such as planar and spherical motors. Models for establishing the relationships among the magnetic fields, position/orientation and force/torque are systematically presented and time-efficient solutions are provided which facilitates computations of magnetic field/force/torque involved in the design process of electromagnetic systems. Magnetic-field-based sensing and control methods which can make the most of the attractive structural and dynamic features of the direct drive actuators are also introduced and illustrated with examples. In addition to the illustrations, the designs and experimental investigations of several actuators applied for practical applications are also elaborated, which not only provides immediate verifications of the introduced methods, but also delivers inspirations to the readers for designing and developing intelligent mechatronic systems.

白坤,男,博士,华中科技大学副教授。本科毕业于浙江大学控制科学与工程系;2012年于美国佐治亚理工学院(Georgia Institute ofTechnology)机械系取得博士学位;目前在数字制造装备与技术国家重点实验室进行科研工作。??主要从事机电系统、控制系统、驱动器和传感的研究,相关成果发表SCI、EI收录文章20余次,目前主持国家自然科学基金项目2项,作为主要成员参加国家重点基础研究发展计划(973)项目1项。
